Introduction To AIM

Aiding Infants and Mothers (AIM) is an affiliate organization of Maternal Life with branches in Long Island, New York and Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

AIM encourages high school students to volunteer for projects in developing countries. AIM introduces young adults to the plight of people in other parts of the world by taking on specific assignments.

For example, AIM financially supports Maternal Life programs and indigent women in developing countries by paying for their medical expenses from pregnancy through six months post-partum.

AIM-NY payed for doctor and hospital care for 500 women at Our Lady of the Apostles Teaching Hospital and Nursing School in Jos, Nigeria. AIM-NY is now partnering with the West Africa Fistual Foundation of Dallas, Texas, to implement hospital improvements in Bo, Sierra Leone, for a dedicated surgery unit performing fistual repair and caesarian sections, and wards for maternity and new born care.

AIM-PA agreed to raise the funds to repair the Bo, Sierra Leone’s hospital roof. This has been completed. The student volunteers that support AIM projects, however, have been helping local Pennsylvania families clean, paint and repair homes after extensive flooding steming from the August 2011 hurricane Irene.
